Press Release Regarding The Molotov Cocktail Attack To The Turkish Consulate General In Thessaloniki , 12.08.2010

Today (12 August) at around 4:00 a.m., three Molotov cocktails were thrown to the walls of the Turkish Consulate General in Thessaloniki by unidentified persons. The perpetrators escaped after carrying out the attack. The Molotov cocktails caused small-scaled fires at the entrance of the residence and its wall. The fires were extinguished by the Fire Department of the city of Thessaloniki and the Consulate General’s own staff. No damage occurred at Atatürk's Museum House, which is located within the compound of the Consulate General.
 
With pleasure we took note of the statement by the Government Spokesman of Greece condemning the attack, and underlying that those responsible will be arrested and brought before justice, as well as expressing regret to the Turkish Government for this act. Furthermore, Alternate Foreign Minister of Greece, Dimitris Droutsas, made a telephone call to Foreign Minister Davutoğlu today, expressing regret for this act and emphasizing that the Greek Government will do its best to arrest the perpetrators and to prevent any recurrence of such an event.
